Solar Peak Act 2025: What installation companies and specialist dealers need to know now

The new Solar Peak Act has been in force since 25 February 2025 - and changes key framework conditions for photovoltaic systems from 2 kWp. For installation companies and specialised dealers, the law brings both new challenges and additional opportunities.

AKKU SYS helps you to maintain an overview and realise your projects economically. You will find all the important background information and practical tips in the compact Webinar.

What is the solar peak law

The official name of the law is: "Act amending the Energy Industry Act to avoid temporary generation surpluses".

Better known as the Solar Peak Act, it pursues a clear objective: to control the feed-in of solar power into the grid more efficiently. To this end, it stipulates new technical requirements. All new systems with an output of 2 kWp or more that are commissioned from 25 February 2025 are affected.

The most important changes at a glance:

  • Adjustments to the EEG remuneration - In future, operators of new PV systems will no longer receive remuneration for electricity fed into the grid during periods with negative exchange electricity prices
  • Mandatory equipment for new systems - In future, these may only be installed with a smart meter and control box
  • Obligation for remote controllability depending on system size - Certain system sizes must be controllable remotely in order to avoid grid overloads
  • Limitation of the feed-in power to 60 % of the module power - Applies to systems from 2 kWp without intelligent measuring system with control function (iMSys)
  • Mandatory installation of an iMSys for systems over 7 kWp - Certain transition periods and introduction quotas apply until 2032 at the latest

What does this mean for your customers?

The new legal regulation changes key factors in the profitability calculation. The aim is a more stable grid structure. At the same time, this increases the need to coordinate electricity generation, consumption and feed-in even more effectively.

Those who invest in modern systems with battery storage and intelligent energy management at an early stage will benefit in the long term:

  • Through an improved energy consumption rate
  • And optimal utilisation of the EEG remuneration

Storage and EMS: even more important now

The new law emphasises the importance of storage solutions and energy management systems (EMS). Intelligent control systems such as the a-TroniX AX CORE distribute the solar power generated efficiently and according to demand in the household - and reduce unnecessary feed-in to the grid. In this way, system operators increase their own consumption, improve economic efficiency and at the same time fulfil important requirements for subsidy programmes and grid conformity.
