The 5-day classroom course teaches the legally required expertise for the A2 certificate („refrigeration licence“).
The course combines theoretical principles with practical exercises and concludes with an examination.
Contents of the course
- Theoretical principles in accordance with legal requirements
- Practical application and exercises
- Exam preparation
- Participation in theory and practical test
- Course materials
The certificate is issued by the training partner after passing the examination.
Programme of the training week
The training takes place over five days as a face-to-face event and combines theoretical knowledge transfer with practical exercises.
Day 1 - Monday
Start: 10:30 a.m.
End: 5:30 pm
Introduction to the basics of refrigeration technology and initial theoretical training content.
Day 2 to day 4
Time: 08:00 - 17:30
Consolidation of the theoretical content and practical exercises on the systems.
Main topics of theoretical knowledge transfer
- Fundamentals of refrigeration technology
- The refrigeration circuit
- Throttling devices and compressors
- Components of refrigeration systems
- Properties and hazards of refrigerants in safety groups A1, A2L and A3
- National and international climate policy
- F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573, Implementing Regulation 2024/2215 and Chemicals Climate Protection Regulation
- Compressive strength test
- Evacuation in refrigeration technology
- Leak detection and leak testing
- Recovery of refrigerants
- Split air conditioning technology
Main topics of practical knowledge transfer
- Working with flammable refrigerants
- Professional installation of air conditioning systems
- Setting pressure switches (if required)
- Strength test and pressure test
- Coarse and fine leak detection
- Evacuating and filling the system
- Commissioning and functional test
- Documentation of the work
- Handover of the system to the customer
- Troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Extracting the refrigerant and flushing the system with nitrogen
After extraction, the system remains in an operational state with a protective filling as a basis for the practical test.
Day 5 - Exam day
Time: 08:00 - approx. 16:30
The final theoretical and practical examinations take place on the last day.
Components of the audit
- Theoretical examination
- Practical examination with the following activities:
- Evacuate
- Filling
- Commissioning
- Fine leak detection
- Documentation
- Handover to the customer
- Troubleshooting
- Extracting the refrigerant and flushing the system with nitrogen
Once the test has been completed, the systems are dismantled.
The seminar concludes with a joint final discussion, the seminar evaluation and the presentation of certificates.
Departure of participants possible from approx. 16:00.
